Bridgtown Memorial Park and Gardens – update on refurbishment.
Leigh Jarratt of Friends of Bridgtown Park has reported:
Hi All, I just wanted to write a quick post just to keep you appraised of the plans for the Memorial park and its refurbishment. this is a joint venture through a partnership between local residents, the District and Parish Councils, local primary school together with the “Friends of Bridgtown Park” Group.
There has been a bit of a delay with getting the proposed refurbishment completed due to COVID and Vandalism but we are well under way with different phases happening.
-
The bench repairs have now been completed and are now ready for painting.
-
The wall repairs are due to take place this week so should make a massive difference to the appearance.
-
We have obtained quotations for CCTV in the park to hopefully reduce further vandalism. Providing we can obtain funding this will be linked into the Councils main monitoring station.
-
Painting works of all the play equipment & benches to take place in early June. (Volunteers needed)
-
Quotes obtained for new bins in the Park.
-
Funding proposal in for new plants.
I would personally like to thank a couple of people in getting this far. Sue Heath for you time and effort so far in the planting you have done (albeit some of it vandalised) and also for your time in the planning for the future of the garden areas of the park. secondly to Val Jones for your time and support with coordinating with the council for the works so far and works to happen in the near future.
It wont be too long before we have a park to be proud of.
